Our Story
Apolonia Rusiak – Kukla
My name is Apolonia, I got married in 2021, and my first baby is now 2 years old. We got married quickly only knew each other a year and had our baby just as fast, 8 months after being married (he was born four weeks early, just to clarify, it wasn’t a shotgun wedding haha!). The initial months were a whirlwind of learning and adapting. From feeling on top of the world during the newborn stage to struggling with exhaustion and self-doubt in the following months, I’ve experienced the highs and lows of parenting firsthand. Going back to work was even harder, i had intense separation anxiety and I’m still adjusting to Leonardo being in daycare. We live in a big city so I’ve been trying to find more activities to do out in nature, as well as, we love doing experiments in this household as I am a Science teacher and my husband is an engineer. We generally try to find quick, budget-friendly easy meals to make as time is of the essence. I wouldn’t say I’m as creative as Anastazja but she really helps me come up with fun and easy DIYs to do around the house, for birthdays and other special events, which has really allowed us to enjoy spending time together with our babies.
It has been a blessing to navigate the beautiful chaos of motherhood while juggling my career, passions, and the everyday challenges that come with raising a little one, with my sister by my side!
Anastazja Soares – Kukla
My name is Anastazja, I am a mama of two beautiful, energetic and mostly happy girls, Esmeralda and Isadora. While I’m not on maternity leave, I run the creative department at the company I work for and the rest of the time I’m just out here trying to figure out how to keep the kids happy-ish. My almost 3 year old and under one year old love to be outdoors, so it is definitely a bonus that we live in a town surrounded by farms and forests. We do as much exploring as the weather permits and love to recommend activities and places to visit in Ontario with the little ones. Although I do not consider myself to be a chef, I have been very conscious of what I feed my littles, especially since we have experienced some allergy scares in the last few months. I make most of our snacks from scratch and have tested out many egg-free recipes with my littlest one due to her egg allergies. We have been blessed with local farm raised meat and many fresh from the farm fruits and vegetables to use in our cooking, which allows us to keep our meals very simple and healthy.
We struggle with the same fun things that all our fellow parents struggle with and we try to take it all with a smile (when we can). We all know it’s not all rainbows and unicorns all the time, but it’s an easier pill to swallow when you can laugh about your pains. It helps to have someone right there with you too, which makes me so happy that my sister and I have kids close in age.
